A Review of the Powertrain Options Offered With the Ram 2500

With this pickup, the powertrain offers two available transmissions and three engine options.

The six-speed manual transmission is exclusive to the 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel engine, but you can choose a six-speed automatic transmission with the 6.7L Cummins engine as well. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard with the 6.4L HEMI V8 engine and 5.7L HEMI V8 engine.

The 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel I6 engine has a maximum towing capacity of 17,980 pounds and a maximum payload of 3,160 pounds. This engine can reach 370 horsepower and 800 lb.-ft. of torque. The 5.7L HEMI V8 engine offers a maximum towing capacity of 16,320 pounds and a maximum payload of 3,990 pounds, and it can produce 410 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft. of torque. The 5.7L HEMI V8 engine is capable of 383 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque.
