With the hype train for the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon reaching a fever pitch in its final weeks, we couldn’t help but wonder if the promise of a 700-plus horsepower quarter-mile killer was really the end-game. After its unveiling at the New York Auto Show last week, we can see that it was, and we’re pleased to announce the car is better than we’d hoped.

First, those long-awaited numbers: the SRT Demon is 200 lbs. lighter, and will offer 840 horsepower and 770 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful production muscle car not touched by a third-party performance tuner. The sixty second sprint will happen in 2.3 seconds, and its quarter-mile record sits at 9.65 seconds at 140 mph. But there’s more to the story, and for that, we’ve included a thorough break down of the car’s abilities in the clip above.
